GCI certifies participating platforms and organizations that recognize the Investment Profile Designation™ and the credentials provided by GCI and VerifyInvestor.com in their respective roles. TRUST STAR™ identifies those authorized to accept and use the credentials under GCI’s standards.
Partners can use the GCI–IPD™ standard and protocol as a verified foundation for their own participant verification, classification, and authorization workflows. A platform can recognize an eligible credential, check its source and current status, then apply its own rules to determine a person’s role and permitted access.
For banks and credit unions, the September 8, 2026 FinCEN and interagency CIP FAQs explain that electronic credentials may be used as a non-documentary identity-verification method where the institution’s own Customer Identification Program permits it. The institution remains responsible for its authentication standards and identity-verification decisions; the FAQs do not approve any particular private credential.
